Former Rockstar Games technical director Obbe Vermeij believes the risk of unofficial AI-assisted ports could give Rockstar an incentive to release GTA 6 on PC sooner than it otherwise might, but he stressed that he does not know the company’s plans.
In comments from a Rock Paper Shotgun interview reported by Dexerto, Vermeij said Rockstar may be concerned that someone could try to convert the PlayStation 5 version to PC with AI tools. He argued that an unofficial result would not match Rockstar’s own work but could still affect sales.
Vermeij said he would not be surprised if that possibility encouraged Rockstar to place the console and PC releases closer together. He immediately qualified the prediction, saying he does not know what the company is thinking.
The scenario remains speculative. Vermeij described an unofficial conversion as a long, expensive effort rather than an instant process, and no such project establishes anything about Rockstar’s actual release schedule.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced a PC version or a PC release date. Our GTA 6 release guide tracks the confirmed platforms and the status of the unannounced PC edition.
Do you think Rockstar should bring GTA 6 to PC closer to the console launch?
