Assassin’s Creed Hexe may now be targeting 2028 following a reported internal delay, according to new reporting that also points to two unannounced Assassin’s Creed projects under the codenames Mars and Pocket.
Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson reports that Hexe has encountered development issues and was internally pushed back by another year, likely moving its release into 2028. Ubisoft has not announced a release date for the game, and the reported 2028 timing should not be treated as official confirmation.
Ubisoft’s public position is more limited. In its Assassin’s Creed: Fall 2026 Update on October 29, the publisher said development on the darker Assassin’s Creed experience was making steady progress, while acknowledging that work remains. Ubisoft plans to share its next major Hexe update in 2027.
Codename Mars and Codename Pocket rumors
The same Insider Gaming report traces the Mars and Pocket claims to content creator J0nathan. He claims Codename Mars is an Assassin’s Creed game set in Ancient Rome and says two sources with access to Ubisoft’s backend systems corroborated the information.
J0nathan also claims Codename Pocket is a mobile Assassin’s Creed game set in Jerusalem. Neither project has been officially announced by Ubisoft.
Insider Gaming says it has also heard the Mars and Pocket codenames, but has not been able to verify the claims to its usual reporting standards. The outlet added that even if the reported Rome project advances further into production, an announcement could still be years away.
Would you rather see Assassin’s Creed explore Ancient Rome next, or are you more interested in Hexe?
