Microsoft has extended Arkane Lyon’s consultation period by one month, moving the deadline to December 13, 2026, while it explores options that include finding a partner to support the remaining development work on Marvel’s Blade.
A Microsoft representative confirmed the extension in a statement to PC Gamer. The company described it as a defined extension and said it would continue keeping Arkane Lyon’s Works Council informed. Insider Gaming also reported the new date after the consultation had previously been expected to conclude on November 13.
Arkane Lyon’s future remains undecided
The extra month gives Microsoft and the French studio more time to examine possible outcomes, but it does not guarantee that Arkane Lyon or Marvel’s Blade will continue in their current form. Microsoft said the options under consideration include a partner that could help the studio complete the development work still ahead.
Microsoft also told PC Gamer that documents covering a potential closure form part of the required consultation process and do not represent a final decision. That distinction matters: the studio faces a defined deadline, but Microsoft has not officially announced that Arkane Lyon will close or that Marvel’s Blade has been canceled.
Arkane Lyon announced Marvel’s Blade at The Game Awards in December 2023. The project entered full production the following year, but it still has no announced release date or confirmed platforms.
What outcome do you hope Microsoft and Arkane Lyon reach for Marvel’s Blade?
