Are you worried about losing your job to AI? That future may not be as far off as you think. In the gaming industry, developers already use a variety of technologies, but the integration of AI—especially in ways that may violate workers’ rights—could lead to significant problems.
A recent claim suggests that nearly all the actors involved in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies have chosen to withdraw from the project. The reason cited is the lack of contractual protections against the use of AI, which has led to growing dissatisfaction among the cast. As a result, some characters, like SAM in Citadelle, have already been recast, with more changes expected in future releases.
The issue of AI protections for video game actors has become a major point of contention, especially with the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. The strike, which began in July after failed contract negotiations, is focused on securing safeguards against AI exploitation. Activision Blizzard, along with other major studios such as EA, Take-Two, and Warner Bros. Games, is currently involved in these negotiations.
What do you think about this? Do you agree with the actors? Let us know in the comments!
