Ubisoft has unveiled fresh stealth gameplay features for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, giving players a deeper look into the tools and tactics they’ll use in this upcoming entry. The spotlight shines on Naoe, the nimble shinobi, though many mechanics extend to Yasuke, the samurai.
New Scouting Systems
In a departure from traditional eagle companions, Assassin’s Creed Shadows introduces two new scouting features: Observe and Eagle Vision. Observe lets players tag enemies, loot, and quest objectives while offering a wider view of the surroundings. Eagle Vision takes it further, highlighting enemy positions and sounds, even through walls. These skills can be used together or independently for better surveillance.
Stealth Movement
Stealth in Shadows has been reworked with various movement options. Players can hide in shadows, crouch to reduce noise or go prone to stay out of sight, even underwater or on rooftops. Naoe can also roll while prone, allowing for fluid, evasive maneuvers. This opens up new strategies for ambushes and stealth takedowns.
Stealth Tools & Assassinations
Naoe has an impressive toolkit for silent elimination. Her arsenal includes Smoke Bombs, Shinobi Bells, Kunai, and Shuriken, each serving different tactical purposes. Additionally, Double Assassinations return, letting players strike in tandem with a Hidden Blade and Tanto. A non-lethal grab mechanic also lets you pull enemies into the shadows for a quiet takedown.
Enemy AI & Reactions
Ubisoft has revamped enemy behavior, adding new threats like the non-lethal Servants, who can raise alarms but don’t pose direct danger. Enemies become more cautious after detecting the player, increasing the challenge. Meanwhile, the Samurai enemies are tougher and won’t go down easily—players must get creative to deal with these skilled fighters.
Yasuke’s Stealth Options
While Yasuke is designed for more direct combat, his stealth capabilities aren’t lacking. Players can use his bow for silent ranged eliminations or sneak up for quick kills with his melee weapons.
With these new stealth elements, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is shaping up to be a truly immersive experience for fans of the series’ tactical gameplay. The game will be released on February 14, 2025: It might be an awesome Valentine’s Day gift for your partner. Stay tuned for more updates on the game’s progress and upcoming content.
