Kojima Productions has announced that Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is now available for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a special 50% discount for a limited time. The game is priced at $19.99 on the Xbox Store, while it is also available at a discounted rate on Steam and Epic Games Store. Originally released for PlayStation 4 in 2019 and later upgraded for PlayStation 5 in 2021, Death Stranding received generally favorable reviews and sold over 5 million copies by mid-2021.
In addition to the game’s availability on new platforms, Kojima Productions shared that it now fully owns the intellectual property (IP) for Death Stranding, signaling its intent to further expand the franchise into various forms of entertainment. The sequel, Death Stranding 2, is slated for release in 2025, initially as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. However, there is speculation that it may eventually launch on Xbox and PC as well, especially in light of the Director’s Cut now being offered on those platforms.
The game will be published by 505 Games for both Xbox and PC. Fans are expecting further announcements, with many speculating that more details about Death Stranding 2 might be revealed at The Game Awards this December unless PlayStation has secured an exclusivity deal.
