Nintendo has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will still be announced before the end of its current fiscal year, which wraps up on March 31, 2025. This update came during the company’s latest earnings call, where President Shuntaro Furukawa reiterated that the unveiling of the Switch’s successor will occur within this period.

However, signs of slowing demand for the original Switch are emerging. Nintendo reported a 31% drop in hardware sales for Q1-Q2 year-over-year, prompting a reduction in its sales forecast for the year. The updated target now stands at 12.5 million units, a decrease of 1 million from the initial estimate of 13.5 million.

Although the exact launch date for the Switch 2 remains uncertain, Furukawa had previously stated that it will not be released until the next fiscal year, starting April 1, 2025. Leaked prototype details suggest the new console will feature 12GB of RAM, HDMI 2.1 support, 256GB of storage, 4K resolution, and compatibility with previous Switch titles.
