The newly launched Pokémon TCG Pocket, a mobile adaptation of the classic trading card game, has had an impressive debut, amassing 12 million downloads and generating $12.1 million in revenue within just four days, averaging $3 million daily. Japan accounts for 45% of these earnings, while the U.S. contributes 25%.
In comparison, Pokémon Go reportedly earns around $1 million per day, although it benefits from various additional revenue streams. The new TCG Pocket emphasizes the thrill of opening card packs, allowing players to open two packs daily for free by earning “Pack Stamina,” with options to purchase more.
Players can also subscribe to the premium pass, a monthly service costing $9.99, which unlocks extra features, including one additional booster pack per day—bringing the total to three daily. The game includes further microtransactions to speed up gameplay and offers customization for digital card collections. However, the free-to-play model is designed to encourage spending, with some critics humorously noting its aggressive monetization strategies.
