Ubisoft has shed light on the reasons for the delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows during its latest earnings call. When asked if there might be another postponement into 2025, a company representative emphasized the need for a flawless launch experience. He stated, “On the back of what we saw with Star Wars Outlaws, we need to really make sure that we come with an impeccable player experience on day one.” He acknowledged that while some bugs are inevitable, the focus remains on ensuring optimal performance from the start.
The recent release of Star Wars Outlaws on August 30 did not meet Ubisoft’s sales expectations, reportedly selling fewer than one million copies shortly after launch.
As for the financial implications of delaying Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft revealed that the delay has increased to around $21.7 million in development costs. The company also announced in September its decision to move away from the traditional Season Pass model for this title.
Currently, Star Wars Outlaws is priced at $69.99 for the Standard Edition, $109.99 for the Gold Edition, and $129.99 for the Ultimate Edition. It is also available to players via a subscription to UBISOFT+.
