The Call of Duty series has long been plagued by issues with cheaters, prompting frequent complaints from the gaming community about the effectiveness of anti-cheat measures.

An exploit has emerged concerning the RICOCHET anti-cheat system in Call of Duty, revealing that it has unjustly banned thousands of players. The exploit was detailed in a post by X user @zebleerpo, who explained that sending the phrase “Trigger Bot” via messages or including it in an online ID can trigger RICOCHET to ban innocent users.

Activision was aware of this issue before the exploit was made public and has since restored accounts for a “small number of legitimate player accounts,” though the total number affected remains unclear. Among those wrongly banned was popular streamer BobbyPoff, who faced significant backlash and accusations over the past few weeks before his account was reinstated.

The original poster highlighted concern regarding the potential for legitimate cheaters to also be reinstated inadvertently, as the unbanning process might affect players who were initially flagged by RICOCHET.

In response to the situation, RICOCHET plans to release a blog later today detailing its progress report on the anti-cheat system ahead of upcoming launches.
