During the September 2024 State of Play, Palworld, developed by Pocket Pair—known for titles like Overdungeon and Craftopia—was announced for the PS5, launching globally except in Japan. The delay in Japan was reportedly tied to a legal issue with Nintendo. However, that hold has now been lifted, and the game is officially available on PS5 in Japan.
The news was shared via the official Japanese Twitter account for Palworld, inviting players in Japan to experience one of 2024’s breakout titles. Pocket Pair expressed their gratitude for the patience of fans, stating, “Sorry for the wait! Today, the PS5 version of ‘Palworld’ is now playable. We apologize for the release delay and promise to deliver exciting updates for an enhanced gaming experience. Thank you for your continued support of Palworld.”
Palworld was initially released for PC on January 19, 2024, and is currently priced at $14.99 on Steam. The PS5 version is available for $29.99 on the PlayStation Store.
