The first teaser trailer for Death Stranding 2 was revealed in December 2022 during The Game Awards. The trailer highlighted that both Norman Reedus and Léa Seydoux would reprise their roles in the sequel. Additionally, the well-known Troy Baker will also be part of the cast. Following this exciting trailer, fans became eager to learn the game’s official release date. The first update on the release date came directly from the game’s director.

Speaking during a special presentation for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the director confirmed that the release date has been decided, but due to “unforeseen circumstances”, it couldn’t be announced during the event. He elaborated:

“I haven’t said the release date today, but the release date has already been decided, and I’m currently working on it in preparation for that. Since we are talking about 2025, it will be released next year, so we will announce it at some point next year. But, due to some unforeseen circumstances, we cannot announce it today. ”

In the 2022 trailer, Kojima once again challenged the audience’s perception with mysterious and thought-provoking imagery. In a later interview, Kojima admitted that he had intentionally included these puzzling scenes in the trailer, aiming to encourage fans to theorize and unravel the game’s central plot. It seems the same sense of mystery present in the game’s trailer is also reflected in the release date.

Another recent update about Death Stranding 2 focuses on the new photo mode feature introduced with the game.

In this mode, players can create an almost album-like collection of photographs, capturing characters in various poses and with playful facial expressions.

While the photo mode feature has been present in other next-gen games, Death Stranding 2 offers a slightly different take. This mode allows players to customize characters as they wish, allowing them to adjust facial expressions and poses. It seems this unique photo mode has the potential to create personalized albums for each player. Alongside this announcement, Kojima also unveiled special jackets designed for the game, priced at $1700, which have already sold out on the market.

Additionally, it was revealed during the presentation that music videos would also feature in the new game. All of these exciting features seem to make Death Stranding 2 well worth the anticipation.

We’ll continue to bring you the latest updates on Death Stranding 2.
