After God of War Ragnarok’s release on PC, the game faced criticism in Steam reviews for its PSN account requirement. In order to play the game on PC, players should link their PSN accounts to their profiles which is usual for PS games that are released on PC.
There are different reasons for this criticism, one of the major ones being PSN’s limited availability in countries. The requirement renders those who live in countries where PSN is not available unable to play the game. Although this is the case, it was known that God of War Ragnarok would require a PSN account before.
Similar criticism was made by players earlier this year on another title, Helldivers 2, for imposing a PSN requirement months after its release. This decision was later withdrawn, showing that the players did not raise their concerns for nothing. However, it should be noted that the case of God of War Ragnarok is different from that of Helldivers 2.
