Japanese Version of The Callisto Protocol is Canceled: The Game will be Inaccessible in Japan

The Callisto Protocol’s Japanese release is canceled after a conflict between the developer and Japan’s Computer Entertainment Rating Organisation. Due to the crisis, the game won’t be released in Japan, and all pre-orders from Japan will be refunded.

The announcement comes from the developer, the current state of the game with all the gore and graphics prevents it from being rated by Japan’s Computer Entertainment Rating Organisation (CERO). While reducing the amount of graphic content and elements could possibly work, this could cause the game to lose its atmosphere and vision.

Neither sides seem to want to make a move for a solution to this issue. As long as this status quo continues, it looks like the game will never be released in Japan. The only way for its release seems to be a concession from one of the sides, CERO or Striking Distance Studios.

The Callisto Protocol will release on December 2nd for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
