Microsoft Acquires Activision Blizzard

Microsoft has announced that the deal between them and Activision Blizzard has been finalized, which means Activision Blizzard will be under the banner of Microsoft when the deal is closed up. Activision Blizzard is the name behind franchises such as Call of Duty and World of Warcraft, so this is something major. The deal will be costly though, as the price for the acquirement goes all the way up to $68.7 billion.

The news is announced on Xbox Wire, where it is said that “Creators of Call of Duty, Warcraft, Candy Crush, Tony Hawk, Diablo, Overwatch, Spyro, Heartstone, Guitar Hero, Crash Bandicoot, Starcraft and more join team Xbox”.

We don’t know when the deal is going to be closed up, this is most likely a precaution to review the deal to make sure everything is how they are supposed to be like. It is confirmed that Activision Blizzard will continue its presence as an independent company until the deal is approved.

CEO Bobby Kotick gave an estimated time in an answer to emails, on the other hand, saying the deal is expected to be done by “sometime in Microsoft’s fiscal 2023 year ending June 30, 2021.”

It is also said that with the acquirement of Activision Blizzard, they will be including many titles from Activision Blizzard in Xbox Game Pass, as Spencer says they want to add “as many Activision games as we can”.
