Netflix has shared the news of adding games to their service via a shareholders letter. Most importantly, they won’t be charging users any kind of additional fee for it.

We know how series like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch work. The company is looking to build upon these interactive stories. The games that will be added to the service will be only available on mobile devices for now, though.

“We’re also in the early stages of further expanding into games, building on our earlier efforts around interactivity (eg. Black Mirror: Bandersnatch) and our Stranger Things line of games,” Netflix explains.

“We view gaming as another new content category for us, similar to our expansion into original films, animation, and unscripted TV. Games will be included in members’ Netflix subscription at no additional cost similar to films and series Initially, we’ll be primarily focused on games for mobile devices.”

There were already some claims of Netflix taking such action back in May, and it seems like they were true after all. Netflix has also shown their excitement for even more series and movies coming to the service and looking forward to their releases.

How do you think this will turn out? In my opinion, this move has a lot of potentials, in short term only mobile devices are fine, but I’ll be expecting them to bring support to other platforms as soon as possible.
