Twitch’s Actions Against Bot Followers has Led Some Streamers to Lose Over 3 Million Followers

Twitch has enacted a crackdown on bot users on Twitch. Later on, after the purge, there are over 3 million followers lost by some streamers.

The crackdown was announced by Twitter some time ago, so streamers knew this was coming. According to the statement, there were over 7.5 million bot accounts that exist on Twitch at the time. Twitch also warned streamers about drastic decreases in their follower count. This crackdown was something good for streamers who wanted to see the actual number of their followers, excluding the bot accounts.

Of course, as we said, some streamers got a big chunk of their followers wiped. Félix “xQc” Lengyel, a former OWL player, has lost over 2.6 million followers after the crackdown. Another streamer, Chance “Sodapoppin” Morris, has lost over 3.3 million followers. Fortnite streamer Ninja on the other hand only lost around 200,000 followers.

There have been people calling out for this action for months now, well, at least we got it now. It’s good to see that bot accounts are being wiped out from Twitch, which will be a great improvement for transparency in follower counts.
