PS5 Breaks A New Record in The US
In the post-release phase of PS5, the console broke the record of the fastest-selling console in U.S. history in unit and dollar sales. We have a new record on our hands though, and this one was reported by Mat Piscatella from The NPD Group.
During Q1 2021, PS5 surpassed Nintendo Switch and became the best-selling hardware platform in both units and dollars. However, this did not stop Nintendo Switch, as it still ranks as the best-selling hardware platform in March 2021.
It’s about time we talk about games! Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War finally secures its top spot again, it also claims the title of the best-selling game for the first quarter and the 12-month period until March 2021.
The list of March 2021’s best-selling games is as follows:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Monster Hunter Rise
- Outriders
- Super Mario 3D World
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Super Mario 3D All-Stars
- Minecraft
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Pokémon Sword & Shield
- Mortal Kombat 11
- Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild
- Madden NFL 21
- NBA 2K21
- Super Mario Party
- FIFA 21
It’s pretty surprising that even though stocks of next-gen consoles can’t be enough for the demand, March 2021 consumer spending for video game hardware, content, and accessories has increased by 18% since last year. Nintendo Switch is also keeping on having successful sale numbers even though we have rumors of “Switch Pro” going on.
