Diablo 2 Resurrected is Announced!

Diablo 2 Resurrected is announced for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and of course PC. This remaster will include all the content from the expansion pack ”Lord of Destruction.” And yes it will include the Assassin and Druid player classes.

This remaster will work at 4K and 60 fps on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. And you will be able to play it with a gamepad on PC. But of course, it will run at lower resolutions on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Also, cross-progression will be supported.

And one of the best things about this remaster is you will be able to switch between the original game and the remaster by only pressing a button. Like Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.

Vicarious Visions design director Robert Gallerani said “It’s like video game archaeology, learning how these things work. Because we’re using that old system to drive things forward, we keep everything the same. Since it’s not a remake, we don’t have to rebuild [anything]. It’s basically like we’re changing the oil, making sure it runs smoothly, but we’re not rebuilding everything. We are literally combing every single piece of code.” And, he noted with a smile, “when we do fix a bug we have to be very careful because everything is interconnected.”

Also, Blizzard added a new shared stash system. So you don’t have to make a Mule character anymore.

And like every new game Blizzard will take the advantage of the PS5’s and Xbox Series X’s system. Meaning we could get amazing resolutions, load times, and frame rates.

Blizzard didn’t add the couch co-op in this game. They called it ”a bridge too far” for this project. But it will include Diablo 2’s original eight-player online mode. And now you will be able to store characters on ”Battle.net”.

There will be a technical alpha in the near future. You can sign-up for alpha testing on the official Diablo website. The testers will be chosen randomly. So sign-up if you want to try your luck to be one of the first people that got the chance to play this remaster.
