Deal Between Microsoft and Duracell Doesn’t Mean Xbox Controllers Have to Use AA Batteries

It was claimed that Xbox controllers use AA batteries because of agreements between companies and Microsoft. Actually, it’s all different in reality.

It’s all the way around! Microsoft, in fact, let gamers charge or use batteries on their controllers because it was for flexibility. Duracell batteries are coming with Xbox controllers because Xbox has been a part of Duracell OEM.

A Microsoft spokeperson said:

“We intentionally offer consumers choice in their battery solutions for our standard Xbox Wireless Controllers. This includes the use of AA batteries from any brand, the Xbox Rechargeable Battery, charging solutions from our partners, or a USB-C cable, which can power the controller when plugged into the console or PC.”

At the end of the day, deals ending or new ones being made doesn’t change anything about the usage of AA batteries in Xbox controllers.
