Funimation Will Launch As Anime Streaming App

Funimation will be released as the only anime streaming app on Nintendo Switch. After a cryptic tease, in which Funimation first pointed to a collaboration with the Nintendo Switch console, Funimation officially announced that fans will be able to control the anime streaming app on the console starting Tuesday, December 15. It will be available to fans in the United States and Canada, with plans to expand to the UK, Ireland, Mexico and more in the coming months. This will make it the only anime app on the console, according to Funimation’s press release.

Kaliel Roberts, Chief Product Officer at Funimation, points out that our teams approached a common goal with a common goal. When Funimation hits Nintendo Switch, it will be available on all current- generation game consoles following their launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.

It’s been a huge month for Funimation as they previously announced that the company has also acquired Crunchyroll. More details on this purchase will be announced at a later date, but soon Nintendo Switch fans will be able to browse a huge anime library on the go as well as game libraries.
