The Sims 4 Added Over 100 New Skin Tones and Sliders

The Sims 4 has finally added new skin tones to give players more options when creating characters. This free update comes as a response to fans of The Sims 4 who wanted a wider range of skin tones, especially darker skin tones and tones, during character creation.

You can check out the update in the short trailer above. The update includes more than a hundred new skin tones, as well as a slider that allows players to change the value of each light and dark. In addition to more realistic skin tones, there is an additional category for fantasy and sci-fi actors called “miscellaneous”. You can also save your custom skin tones so you don’t have to recreate a Sim every time you customize it.

We’ve been waiting for this update since August, when Lindsay Pearson, the executive producer of The Sims 4, responded to the requests with a video on Twitter and admitted The Sims 4 fell short of its goal of being an inclusive game.

There’s a lot more in the update, including bug fixes for both The Sims 4 and many extensions and add-on packs, but some responses to the announcement on Twitter say these bug fixes break things up. If you have mods for The Sims 4 installed, they may also be disabled due to the update.
