One of the memorable roles of Hugo Weaving, who portrayed V in V for Vendetta, Agent Smith in the Matrix, and Red Skull in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was Elrond, whom he portrayed in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit series.

The Lord of Rivendel is also one of the characters to appear in Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series. However, it seems that Weaving doesn’t want to resurrect the elven lord.

In an interview with Variety, Weaving replied “No, absolutely no,” when asked if he is open to re-portray the character of Elrond on Amazon’s drama. The famous actor stated that he is open to reviving Agent Smith in Matrix 4.

Hugo Weaving said, “The Matrix may be the Lord of the Rings no, never. I’m absolutely not interested. I loved being in New Zealand with all the great people and it was like coming back to the family, but to be honest, everyone got more than necessary,” said Hugo Weaving.

Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series will set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, which we see very little in the movies. The Second Age passes between Morgoth’s flock and the first defeat of his servant Sauron. Critical events occur in the Second Age, such as the rise and fall of the Kingdom of Nùmenor, the creation of the Rings of Power, and the formation of the Last Alliance that protected the world from Sauron’s wrath.
