Next Battlefield title will probably be set in WW2 and news about microtransactions are out

According to Kotaku, the next Battlefield story will be based on WW2 and it will probably support microtransactions but this time, only for cosmetic items. A couple of sources spoke to Kotaku and explained that EA and DICE were planning to implement cosmetic items to the game and make them available via loot-boxes. Yes, your trust worthy BFF who doesn’t seem to be leaving soon is coming back…again. But this time, it is a little bit different.

Let’s talk about the good news then? First of all, like I’ve already pointed out, these loot-boxes will only include cosmetic items. So don’t be alarmed…yet. Apparently, EA has learned something from their Battlefront 2 disaster and trying to make some things right. You can still get the loot-boxes by playing the game but you can’t buy them yet. This feature will come back, but EA is silent about the actual date.

But they have different plans for the next Battlefield title. As a source close to the new Battlefield told to Kotaku, “No one’s gonna do any pay-to-win stuff anymore,” and he adds: “We didn’t take any of the loot box controversy lightly.” This is good to know…right? It is also good to know that the game is going back to its historical shooter roots after leaving it for modern combat style. Welcome back old fella.

If we go back to the loot-box issue, I personally do not have any problems with them as long as they do not effect the actual gameplay. Not only EA, but also other companies should be careful when they want to implement a mechanic like this as it can be disastrous in the end. But we still have to wait until we have more news about Battlefield’s next title before we can be sure about it.

So, stay tuned for more!
