New Vampyr dev diary video showcases the internal conflict of the protagonist

We are back with more Vampyr news and videos fellas. Just like before, DONTNOD has released another video about the development and core mechanics of their upcoming title Vampyr. And this time, the video is about the internal conflict that we have been talking about non-stop.

As you may have noticed already (if you read the other articles about the game), the protagonist of this game is a doctor who also happens to be a vampire. This aspect will be the main moral issue of the game and players will be given choices between killing or not killing innocents. The citizens of London will play a huge role on your character’s development. You will gain experience points by drinking the blood of the innocents. But you will get more points if you cure their illnesses or get involved in their lives. This will mean that you will have to make hard decisions.

What is impressive in this game is the character creation if you ask me. As you can see at the very beginning of the video, each NPC has a unique appearance as well as a unique life. These NPCs will define what will happen after your decision of killing or sparing them. Each one of them will influence the direction of the story. This is not a simple RPG game where NPCs are there to give you quests, as the devs mention, they are living beings with concerns and souls. And forget that you will hear the last thought of a person you’re killing when you drink the last drop of their blood, and eventually kill them. Wow, that is tough.

The game is expected to be released this spring, if everything goes well of course. So, until we get another video from DONTNOD, stay tuned for more.
