GTA 5 Liberty City Mod Is No More

Rockstar didn’t approve.

Well, it was good and it didn’t last long, like it usually does. Previously, we’ve mentioned about a mod which will bring Liberty City to GTA V. Thanks to modders OpenIV, we had something to cherish.

Rockstar and its father Take-Two are adopting a strict modding policy for a while now and as a result of this, Liberty City Mod is not going to happen.

Liberty City in GTA V mod was a highly anticipated mod since it would convert Liberty City from your copy of Grand Theft Auto IV into your copy of Grand Theft Auto V. Along with that, Liberty City would not replace Los Santos or Blaine; it would have its own area across the sea. It was a fine idea, yet it is no more.

Unfortunately, our highly anticipated mod “Liberty City in GTA V” will not be released because it clearly contradicts with Rockstar modding policy. Liberty City mod is a big loss for us, since it was a huge part of our motivation to push OpenIV functionality.

OpenIV will continue developing mods for GTA V within the Rockstar modding policy since it is not the first time they get into trouble.
