Somerville – A New Title from the Devs of Limbo and Inside

If you’ve played Limbo and Inside, you know that indie Playdead was chasing something different than others we’ve seen lately, and I am glad to say that they achieved their goal in the most spectacular way.

Limbo and Inside are both atmospheric puzzle platformers which carry you to somewhere you can’t even imagine and with a mysterious and splendid way, tell a sad story of a young boy. Limbo and Inside both have depressing atmospheres and grievous stories. From Limbo and until Inside, Playdead made great progress. You can tell when you realize you can’t stop thinking about Inside.

Now, Playdead’s Dino Patti and their new indie studio Jumpship announced their first game, Somerville. Dino Patti left Playdead in 2016, Chris Olsen and Patti built Jumphisp. Like you can imagine, there is no detailed news about the upcoming game. Yet, there is an awesome trailer which you can watch and try to understand what is going on.

We see the atmospheric environment is still a go, since it is now the signature of the developers. Farmhouses and weird structures in the sky, and spaceships? Previously, we’ve shared an artwork of the upcoming game with you which shows an astronaut? A pilot? Well, take a look:

“Somerville is a sci-fi action adventure that chronicles the lives of key individuals in the wake of a global catastrophe.”  says the description. “In neon sky, our kin are lost, till future has returned to dust.” says the teaser. I can not contain myself.
