The Witcher: Alzur’s Legacy is a Promising Fan Made Movie

We have seen many different The Witcher games so far. A board adventure game, a card game and of course the original The Witcher triology. All of them pointed out a universe in which monsters, medieval politics, urban legends and monster killing business are real things. With the end of The Witcher 3, fans were left thirsty for more stories. Now, we have an alternative way to appreciate The Witcher universe thanks to this movie. And the producers of The Witcher: Alzur’s Legacy promise to shoot a movie created by fans, for fans.

Another promising indie attempt

Originally created by writer Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher universe reflects a world in which the medieval politics and urban legends are decisive on every single aspect of the universe. The main thing we have seen in the video games as well as in the novels and some poor filming attempts (watch it at your own risk…) is this mixture of realism and fantasy. The political conditions of non-humans and the greedy, racist humans mixed with the supernatural beings like monsters and wraiths is one of the most important things that makes The Witcher universe unique.

The movie focuses on the story of Lambert who needs to recover the legendary Alzur’s Almanac from a dangerous sorceress. And in the process we will be able to see Triss Marigold and the bard Dandelion. The director says that they want to shoot the movie in real life places like medieval ruins, forests and beautiful landscapes to maintain the feeling of realism. For more information and scenes of making the movie, check out this video:

We will see if this movie will be able to reflect this main aspect of the universe and create a successful product or not. As most of the fans are already disappointed with the attempts of making a The Witcher movie, it will be hard to satisfy them. But, as they are a fan-based, independent group, I can say that I have hope. And as independent movie makers, they will need your help. As far as we know, they need around $15.000 to be able to finish the movie. And it is not that much considering it’s a big project.

So go ahead and check out the indiegogo page and see if you want to support them.

Until the next time we hear fom the movie, stay tuned, have fun and enjoy the video fellas!
