We Happy Few Is Becoming a Movie

The indie survival horror video game We Happy Few still in early-access, yet a movie adaptation is already on the way.
According to Variety, We Happy Few is in the works with “Pitch Perfect” producer Gold Circle Entertainment. Compulsion Games has partnered with dj2 Entertainment in this movie project.
We Happy Few is set in a fictional English city of Wellington Wells. In mid 1960s, the city is filled with corruption. Citizens of this city begin taking a hallucinogenic drug called ‘Joy’ in order to forget their shameful acts of the past. So yes, everyone is high as kites.
As a Downer, we are against using Joy since it creates a false happiness and makes us easily controllable. Being the only person who is not using Joy in the city draws the unwanted attention to us and thus, we must survive this madness and escape the city.
Concept of We Happy Few reminds me of the movie Equilibrium which was a masterpiece. We Happy Few has a charming and twisted story which might look good on the big screen.
According to Compulsion Games, the game will leave early access before the movie comes out.
