BioWare’s New Action IP Comes in 2018

Hi everyone,

As we’re working hard to finish Mass Effect: Andromeda, I wanted to take a minute to talk about our new IP. As our CEO Andrew Wilson mentioned, we’re creating a unique IP that will bring players together in exciting new ways.

There’s much more to say in the coming months, but for now, I wanted to offer this additional background.

In 2012, we began crafting a new universe full of new characters, stories, and gameplay. Our ambition is simple: Draw upon 20+ years of development knowledge and lessons to create something fun and new for you to enjoy with your friends.

There’s nothing quite as exciting as building a new IP from scratch, and it will be even more thrilling for us to share more with you in the future.

Thanks,

Aaryn

Aaryn Flynn says in his blog post that we shouldn’t worry people. They have a new IP in hand, and we know what BioWare is capable of, when creating worlds and characters. After finishing Mass Effect 2 recently, I couldn’t argue.

Before that, EA CEO Andrew Wilson stated that this new IP will “distrupt” the action genre in general. His words can also be taken as there will be less roleplaying and more adventure. BioWare fans, especially Dragon Age lovers would probably be disappointed about these news, but we all know that BioWare is very, very capable of creating action games (ex. headshooting the mechs in Mass Effect 2).

This new game, name unknown; will be out in the second quarter of 2018, the statements point that clearly. We are expecting a E3 announcement for both SW Battlefront 2 and this new IP of BioWare.
