Game Developers Choice Awards (Spoiler Alert: Witcher 3)

GDC, Game Developers Conference in San Fransisco held the 16th Game Developers Choice Awards and as a part of it, 18th Annual Independent Games Festival is also announced its winners. Let’s have a look at the list:

Game Developers Choice Awards

  • Game of the Year: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
  • Audience Award: Life is Strange
  • Innovation Award: Her Story
  • Best Debut: Moon Studios (Ori and the Blind Forest)
  • Best Design: Rocket League
  • Best Handheld/Mobile Game: Her Story
  • Best Visual Art: Ori and the Blind Forest
  • Best Narrative: Her Story
  • Best Audio: Crypt of the Necrodancer
  • Best Technology: The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt
  • Ambassador Award: Tracy Fullerton
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Todd Howard
  • Pioneer of the Year: Marcus Persson


Independent Game Festival Awards

  • Seumas McNally Gand Prize: Her Story
  • Excellence in Narrative: Her Story
  • Excellence in Audio: Mini Metro
  • Excellence in Design: Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
  • Excellence in Visual Art: Oxenfree
  • ID@Xbox Rising Star Award: Girls Make Games

Another well deserved victory for The Witcher 3, among the competitors such as MGS V, Fallout 4, Bloodborne and Rocket League.

There was also an extremely touching tribute in the event for Satoru Iwata whom we lost in 2015; the man who brought 3DS and Wii into our lives, “a gamer in his heart”:
No funny “tear in my eye” comments here, move along.
