After the hack EA stated “This was not a ransomware attack. A limited amount of code and related tools were stolen, and we do not expect any impact to our games or our business.” Although the hackers demanding $28 Million claim that they not only have the source code for FIFA 21 and key information on the Frostbite engine but also have access to Xbox and Sony SDK and API keys.
According to BleepingComputer who reached the hackers who are now trying to sell the data, hackers have stolen a massive trove of data including:
- FrostBite game engine source code and debug tools
- FIFA 21 matchmaking server code
- FIFA 22 API keys and SDK & debug tools
- debug tools, SDK, and API keys
- proprietary EA games frameworks
- XBOX and SONY private SDK & API key
- XB PS and EA pfx and crt with key
The hackers are trying to sell the data on various hacker forums and marketplaces as seen below:
