Starbreeze to Publish Psychonauts 2, See it in Action

“It’s Razputin, the rolling rock star!”

Crowdfunding is good. Moreover, it is a great way to stay independent. But being an unprofessional independent comes with some economical drawbacks such as not being able to predict whether the goals will be achieved or not. In the passing years, we’ve seen many failures, compared to very few success stories –that is the harsh reality of crowdfunding fantasy.

Fortunately, Double Fine is a veteran in game development which uses crowdfunding only to develop their crazy-ass ideas without corporate meddlings and tanglements. Tim Schafer stated that Microsoft did not like the first Psychonaut because it was too funny.  Of course they’ve had their share of failures but creativity itself is a source of hope, isn’t it?

Anyway, Fig-funded Psychonauts sequel now has an external publisher which also co-funds the project: Starbreeze Studios. We know Starbreeze of their pathbreaking games such as Chronicles of Riddick, Enclave and Brothers: The Tale of Two Sons. So we can say that there will be no corporate meddlings; as Tim Schafer himself states in the below video that Starbreeze also comes from a developer background like themselves. “They’ll also know when we’re lying, so we won’t do any of that.”, he also adds. Let’s see the video (you can skip to 1.53 mark to see the game in action):

Looks great! Congrats to the Double Fine team about the new fundings and developments about the Psychonauts 2. The waiting will certainy be hard for us psychic agents!

The game is planned for release sometime in 2018. Stay tuned!
