New Details of Upcoming Viking Strategy Game ‘Northgard’

Northgard, an upcoming strategy title by Shiro Games, has some new details about game’s clan system and victory conditions which are related to that clan system.

Northgard promises to give a new impulse to Viking strategy games. Behind this game, lies a story of courage and conquest. The mysterious, dangerous and rich land of Northgard welcomes you to explore, conquer, trade and fight.

According to the statement made by Shiro Games, each clan has their own specific advantage which requires certain play styles and victory conditions. This means that if you are up to an agressive gameplay, want to expand furiously and need a Warlord title, you must choose your clan wisely at the very beginning. For example; Fenrir clan of the Wolf is formed from vicious, agressive and reckless fighters and this will be the key of your success.

Along with advantages, every clan has their own disadvantage. Let’s say that you choose Fenrir to achieve to your goal of domination of the land. You have strong fighters in that manner but your gatherers will be almost useless peasants and this may bring you down when winter comes. So you need to think of other ways of feeding your people.

“In the meantime we’re working hard on balancing the game so that when you eventually get to play during the early access, it feels like something that a professional studio created. From that point on we’ll be relying heavily on your feedback to help us make it perfect, but you know that we’re not going to sell you something that feels rushed.
With the last updates we’ve been focusing on the impact that winter has on the overall gameplay. The game is called Northgard for a reason and we want you to feel like you’re a pioneering Viking warrior fighting every minute for your survival in a bitterly cold land. We’re getting close and we’ll keep you posted.”

Early access release date for Northgard will be announced soon. Until then, here is something to ease the pain:
