Valve releases a teaser video about a future DOTA card game

During The International DOTA 2 tournament, Valve released a video which surprised the audience as well as the gamers all around the world: Valve has teased a possible card game which is based on the DOTA lore. Unfortunately, other than the video in which we only see the name of the game, which is Artifact, we do not have any information.

Digital card games have become something huge in the gaming industry. Many companies like Blizzard, Bethesda and CD Projekt Red tried and have been successful about transforming the lore they had into a card game. Hearthstone, Gwent and Legends, all of these games have a different way to play. Other than these three, of course, there are some others who wanted to take part in the digital trading card game train. And Valve is becoming one of them.

Why so many digital card games?

Having players spend lots of money on RNG based digital card packs is a good way of making money, that’s for sure. En equally frustrating for players. Fortunately, there are a couple of ways to find the balance. Like what CD Projekt Red did with Gwent, for example. Gwent is a game in which players get so many rewards that they don’t even need to buy anything at all. If they are ok with waiting a couple of weeks of course. Also if you want to speed up the process and if you don’t want to wait for weeks or even months to get a decent deck, you can still buy cards with real money.

Other games like Hearthstone and The Elder Scrolls: Legends have also started doing the same. They became more and more rewarding. I guess they understood that they had no chance in the competition if they kept the free to play progress too slow just to get more money.

In any case, a DOTA card game will be an interesting thing to see. And it is expected to come out sometime in 2018. We do not know however, what they plan to do and how will they do it. But we will hear from this project soon, that’s for sure.

So stay tuned for more news about DOTA 2 Card Game fellas!
