Valve aims to improve new player experience of DOTA 2 with the new update

One of the biggest MOBA out there (and probably the oldest one) is getting huge changes to improve newcomers’ experience. With the latest update, Valve aims to help new players. By adding features like limiting available heroes, making newcomers to play against/with others with “good manners”, without toxic communication, devs will make the game much more attractive.

But what do these changes mean actually? As we can see on the official entry of DOTA2 team, they are aware of the community problem. People are getting more and more offensive. Not only in DOTA2 but in any competitive game out there. Even in games like Hearthstone or Gwent where you expect people to be more relaxed (this is a slow card game after all right?), it has become something so annoying that people ignore interacting with each other. This is a serious problem for many games. And I think, as long as developers leave it that way, it will get worse and worse.

A small step. But…

For that, I want to congratulate Valve for making this decision. Yes, there is still the toxic community factor after completing 25 games with limited heroes and a limited and better community. But at least this will mean that people will understand that the game is still playable without publicly and explicitly declaring sexual fantasies about others’ relatives.

Basically, the update will let people to choose between 20 heroes which are the easier ones to play. This will last for the first 25 games and it will let new players to get used to the mechanics of the game with easier heroes. And the community they are playing with will be the ones who are “known” to be good against others. This is the best part about this update if you ask me. No more harassment for new players. Unfortunately, this will last for a limited time. For more information, you can check the website of which the link is given above.

We hope that Valve will be able to improve their community and attract more new players. But there are so many things to do before it could get better. And don’t forget that “The Internationals” will begin on August 7th. Until then, may the god of patience be with us fellas.

Stay tuned for more!
